Meet the Founder

MacKenzie Price, Co-Founder of 2 Hour Learning and Alpha Schools, is revolutionizing K-12 education.

A Stanford graduate in Psychology, MacKenzie Price always knew that education needed revolution, but when her daughters told her that school was boring, she knew that the time for a change was now.

And that is why she created the 2 Hour Learning model, empowering students to crush core academics in just two hours a day and giving them the gift of four hours to pursue their passions while mastering life skills.

Starting with the first Alpha School, MacKenzie’s vision became a reality. Students score in the top 1-2% nationally, and over 90% said they love going to school. This success led to the expansion of Alpha Schools across multiple cities – Miami, Brownsville, and counting. Her model is also used at Alpha High, Sports Academy, NextGen Academy, and GT School, changing the educational landscape for hundreds of students.

MacKenzie also hosts the Future of Education podcast and YouTube channel, discussing AI’s role in education and how students can align their passions with their skills for personal and academic growth, amongst other topics. As a member of the Forbes Technology Council, she continues to drive discussions on innovative education.

MacKenzie lives in Austin, Texas with her family and aims to make 2 Hour Learning a global phenomenon.

2 Hour Learning is the AI-powered learning model that supports academic learning in all of our schools. Explore our school to find how to join our in-person accredited schools in Texas and Florida, virtual life skills for teens, and more.

Not at all! While students spend 2 hours on apps in the morning, the rest of their day is spent pursuing their own interests and developing life skills. The adults as guides support students in engaging in an array of lively activities. In fact, because they don’t have to spend 6 hours looking in the same direction at a chalkboard, 2 Hour Learning students get more socialization and less screen time than the average school student.

In 2 Hour Learning, the role of the adult is to provide support that promotes students’ well-rounded success and helps them learn essential life skills. The adults, or guides/ coaches in our schools, focus on motivational and emotional support rather than academic teaching. They act as coaches and mentors, helping to foster personal and emotional development. While they do not teach academics, the adults play a crucial role in guiding and supporting students’ holistic growth. It’s important to note that traditional teachers are not replaced by guides—rather, a teacher can also serve as a guide. Our goal is to redefine the role of adults in the learning environment to better support students’ overall success.

Afternoons look different in every 2 Hour Learning program. In our academic focused schools like Alpha, Alpha High and GT Schools, the afternoons are spent in workshops focused on leadership, grit, teamwork, giving and receiving feedback and so much more! At NextGen Academy, students spend their afternoons focused on gaming related workshops. At Texas Sports Academy, students spend their afternoons focused on learning through movement and advancing in sports. There is a lot of flexibility for all of our learners because they only need the mornings to complete their academics, which frees up their afternoons to pursue things they are interested in and develop life skills – no matter how they use 2 Hour Learning!

Since 2016, students at Alpha Austin have been excelling with 2 Hour Learning. Check out our outcomes on our homepage through our white paper and our video where you will find a deep dive into how it works.
